Still haven't booked a trip for the summer or fall yet? I've got just the spot for you!
If you've seen the Fyre Festival documentary, I can promise you this is nothing like it! The Bahamas is made up of 700 islands, but only about 36 of those are inhabited. Full transparency, I am not a Bahamas expert. But, I am a an expert on nice places to stay, good food and shopping, and the best pools around!
We are getting ready to go for our third time within 13 months ...yes ...that's how much we like it! Let me explain why. Stephen and I love to travel, and of course it's great to do touristy type things, but to be completely honest, when we go away, we just want to chill out. Like you, we have crazy schedules with a to-do list a mile long, so the thought of having a schedule on vacation makes me crazy.
If you want a family friendly trip, I would definitely encourage a cruise that stops in the Bahamas, or choosing Atlantis Paradise Island. There are a ton of things for the kids (and adults) to do. On our most recent trip with our friends, we decided to try out the newest resort, Baha Mar. We weren't too sure about it, and of course the photos looked amazing, but were we really ready to give up the water slides and crazy river at Atlantis? After a few hours at Baha Mar, the answer was a resounding YES! Especially for an adult trip!
Baha Mar is beautiful. Three different hotels make up the overall resort.
Rosewood, which is a high end luxury hotel brand, and where I originally wanted to stay. Every room appears to be a suite, and has exclusive pools only available to Rosewood guests.
The second of the hotel trio is the SLS, a SBE hotel. The SLS still checks off on some of the luxury amenities, but is known to be a bit of a modern-day playground. Fun (and useless) Fact: if you watched The Hills back in the day, Heidi "worked" for Brent Bolthouse who was originally a partner in the SBE Group.
The last hotel chain is Grand Hyatt. This is where we stayed, and it was perfect. Anyone that knows me knows that I normally would have selected the highest end option, but for the price comparison, I decided to give the Hyatt a try, and I am sure glad that I did!
The overall property is large, but extremely manageable to get around. The casino is grand, and bright. The shops are the perfect touch, and the restaurant scene is spot on for the resort. I didn't make it to the spa the last time, but you better believe I already have my appointment set up for our next trip!
Not a joke ... these are the restrooms at the pool. I thought they were cabanas!
Baha Mar offers many food options. One of my favorites is the food truck set up at the beach, totally on trend and so pretty! Pick what sounds good to you, and put your toes in the sand!
Find your people, pick a date, and head to the Bahamas! It's that simple ... you won't regret it!
xo,
Jeannine
