Ben turned ONE this month and I don't even know how we got here! The last year is a total fog, yet it is as clear as a sunny day. Time sure does fly when you are having fun!
We had a small birthday party to celebrate the cutest little dude, and it did not disappoint.
We all know that I love a theme, so ROOKIE YEAR was the theme and hockey was the game. We have been a hockey family my whole life, so I've spent ALOT of time in ice rinks (most in the early, very early, morning!)
Once I had hockey locked down, I thought it would be fun to have a team name, so I enlisted my niece to help out. She is amazingly talented and came up with a couple of sketches for me, and we ultimately decided on the bulldog. Ben's Bulldogs is the name, and blue and grey is the color game! Check out her transformation of our logo!
Logo done, now on to the lettering. If you know hockey, you know the brand Bauer. They have their own font! Score!
I wanted the invitations to look like tickets to a sporting event, so I called my go to for all things stationery, Lauren at Noteworthy Designs.
We rented out a local ice arena so that we could skate, shoot, and play a little hockey! So much fun! Ben LOVED it! Too bad I couldn't find skates small enough for him, but he loved being on the ice in his sled!

The buzzer sounded, and we headed back to our house for a little dinner and cake! Can you even deal with this set up! PoppinUp Balloons and Party Unboxed crushed my vision with balloons for days, banners hanging from the rafters (okay, garage ceiling!), and tables set for a par-tay!
What a fun night, with some party favors to go! Mini hockey sticks, soft pucks, t-shirts, cookies, and more!
Would it be a rookie year without a rookie card?? I swear I almost died when I saw the finished product!
In a nutshell, it was a huge success! While the pandemic stole a little bit of joy from us having a blowout 1st birthday party, we had a great time with a small group of family and friends!
